That’s a wrap!

A huge congratulations and a big thank-you to everyone who helped to make the very first Strength In Numbers Arts Festival the massive success it was. Despite typically British weather, across the three venues we had over 150 visitors – proving that the people of Reading really are eager for art of all disciplines.

Strength Collective would like to take this opportunity to thank Suzanne Stallard, Larry Watson and John Luther for all their support during the preparations and on the day. Our town’s artistic community is strong, diverse and energetic – lets all get behind it to help it reach its full potential! I’d also like to thank Arts Council England for their financial support. Without public funding we would not have been able to engage with the range of artists in the way that we did, and the event would have inevitably incurred entrance fees. So we cannot thank them enough for believing in the project.

There are a few people to whom we would like to say an extra special thank you: Emma Doherty for supervising at Rising Sun; Nick Gilmore of Twyford Studios and Berkshire Artist Network for documenting the day wonderfully; all our wonderful volunteers for giving their time so generously and enthusiastically and Gemma Baker of Acini Event Management for her dedication, professionalism and excellent organisational skills.

Lastly we would like to thank Chris Brant and all the Reading Arts Week gang. Being part of Reading’s biggest art event was humbling and awesome in equal amounts. Thank you Chris.

We have received some very valuable feedback, but there is always room for more! If you would like to tell us where we succeeded, where we can improve, or if you would like to join our mailing list, please email us at
