Strength Collective will be splashed across Reading Art Week’s Art Village this Saturday as part of the superb WaterFest. Here is your opportunity ahead of the festival to meet and talk to founding members Sara Davies and Ellen Jewell about what drives their practice and why they were inspired to create the Strength in Numbers Arts Festival. Within the Art Village you will discover a collection of pop-up stalls, and pop-up performance! Meet local artists and browse the artwork in the outdoor gallery surrounding the Forbury Bandstand.
WaterFest winds its way through the Forbury Gardens and along Chestnut and Riverside Walks concluding at Bel and the Dragon and the Riverside Museum. Visitors to this year’s celebration of canal life will be entertained by traditional music and dance in the Forbury Gardens, with children’s activities and entertainment throughout the day.
Chestnut Walk will be transformed into the WaterFest ‘craft avenue’ where you can browse the hand-made products and take in the beautifully painted narrow boats along the towpath. A number of boat parades will work their way along the river during the day and there will be a best-dressed boat competition, canoeing demonstrations, a duck race and a boat tug of war on the water too.
A great celebration of Reading’s watery heritage, and not to be missed!
