Here at strengthcollective towers we are very excited about our new venture, which starts in the New Year.
Art Asylum is for makers of performance art/live art/experimental theatre (call it what you will) as well as those who appreciate those disciplines as audience members. It will be part social club, part scratch night, part arts critique club. There will be trips to South Street Arts Centre (as well as arts centres further afield), guest speakers, and regular opportunities to share your practice in a safe, supportive environment. We welcome artists at all career stages – from students to practicing artists of many years experience. But this is not a group purely for artists. Oh no. There is also a place for you if you enjoy these disciplines but have no desire to make your own work, but do want to meet like-minded people to share and dissect art with.
Kicking off at 7pm on 29th January 2014 at RISC’s Global Café Art Asylum will be held every last Wednesday of the month. Our first few meetings will be very informal – just a bunch of people getting together to eat good food and chat, with some experimental art practices thrown into the mix. The direction the club takes will be very much dictated by its members, and will remain fairly fluid until as a group we get a sense of what the club is about.
